Wet Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional:
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds or hazelnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Combine and Shape: Gradually mix in dry ingredients, then stir in chocolate chips and nuts if using. Shape dough into logs and place on baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, cool, slice, and bake again for 10-12 minutes until crisp.
- Cool and Serve: Transfer biscotti to a wire rack to cool completely.
