Noodles:

  • 8 ounces lo mein or spaghetti noodles
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Beef & Broccoli:

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • sesame seeds (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare noodles according to package instructions, drain, and toss with sesame oil.
  2. Prepare beef: Toss sliced beef with cornstarch and set aside.
  3. Stir-fry broccoli: In a skillet, stir-fry broccoli in vegetable oil until tender-crisp, then set aside.
  4. Cook beef: Brown beef in oil, add garlic, then cook until fragrant.
  5. Make sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, ginger, red pepper flakes, and broth. Simmer with beef.
  6. Combine: Add noodles and broccoli to the skillet, toss to coat and heat through.
  7. Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in the sauce mixture for 15 minutes before cooking.
