  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

For Serving:

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • butter for toasting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add Vegetables and Sauces: Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until softened. Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using. Simmer until thickened.
  3. Toast the Buns: Toast the hamburger buns with butter in a separate pan or under the broiler.
  4. Assemble: Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then top with the other half. Serve hot.
