- 4 cups cubed French bread or sandwich bread (day-old works best)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Casserole: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Add bread cubes, cooked sausage or bacon, cheese, bell peppers, and onion. Stir gently to combine. Pour into the baking dish and cover. Refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature. Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes until set and golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley if desired.
