Sweet Potatoes:

  • 2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes (peeled and cubed)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup milk (or more as needed)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg for added warmth

Instructions

  1. Boil Sweet Potatoes: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add cubed sweet potatoes and cook for 15–20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
  2. Drain and Mash: Drain well and return to the pot. Add butter, milk, maple syrup or brown sugar, salt, pepper, and cinnamon or nutmeg if using. Mash until smooth using a potato masher or hand mixer, adjusting the milk as needed for desired creaminess.
  3. Season and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm.
