Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Mix wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Add color: If using food coloring, divide the dough and mix in your desired colors.
  7. Shape the cookies: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, flatten, and create flower petals around the edges.
  8. Add center and decorate: Press a mini chocolate chip or candy into the center of each cookie. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles.
  9. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden.
  10. Cool: Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
