This French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole is a comforting and hearty dish that combines ground beef, rice, French onion soup, and creamy mushroom soup topped with two kinds of cheese. It’s a simple yet satisfying meal that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the baking dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef in olive oil until browned. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Prepare the casserole: In a large bowl, combine the uncooked rice, French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and cooked ground beef. Pour into the baking dish.
  4. Bake the casserole: Cover with foil and bake for 55-60 minutes until rice is tender. Remove foil, sprinkle cheeses on top, and bake uncovered for 5-10 minutes until cheese melts.
  5. Serve: Let the casserole rest before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use homemade French onion soup.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
