For the Sloppy Joe Filling:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
For the Garlic Bread:
- 1 loaf French bread (cut in half lengthwise)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef in olive oil until browned. Add onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic.
- Make the filling: Mix in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened. Stir in half of the cheeses.
- Prepare the bread: Place French bread halves on a baking sheet. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and brush over the bread.
- Assemble: Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto bread halves. Top with remaining cheeses.
- Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted. Broil for a golden top if desired. Garnish with parsley before serving.
