Description

These Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Beef Tacos are a delicious twist on traditional tacos, combining savory ground beef with a sweet and tangy honey BBQ sauce. Topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, red onion, and cilantro, these tacos are bursting with flavor and perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Additional Ingredients:

  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook Ground Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add Flavor: Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and cook for 1–2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant. Stir in honey BBQ sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Simmer: Reduce heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  4. Prepare Tortillas: Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  5. Assemble Tacos: Spoon the beef mixture into tortillas and top with cheddar cheese, lettuce, red onion, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • These tacos pair well with a side of Mexican rice or street corn.
