Ingredients
Scale
Steak Bites
- 1½ lbs steak, cut into 1-inch bite-sized pieces
- 1 Tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
Garlic Butter Sauce
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 4 to 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped fresh chives
- 2 tsp chopped fresh oregano
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak: Cut the steak into 1-inch bite-sized pieces. Season all sides of the steak pieces evenly with Montreal steak seasoning to enhance the flavor.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Allow the oil to heat up until shimmering but not smoking, ensuring a good sear.
- Sear the Steak Bites: Add the seasoned steak pieces to the hot skillet. Let them cook undisturbed for at least two minutes to develop a nice crust. Stir the steak bites and continue cooking for another two minutes, or until the steak reaches your preferred doneness.
- Remove Steak from Skillet: Transfer the cooked steak bites to a plate and set aside. Reduce the heat to medium to prepare for the sauce.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: Allow the skillet to cool slightly, then add the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic. Remove the pan from heat.
- Toss Steak in Sauce and Herbs: Return the steak bites to the skillet. Add the finely chopped fresh chives and oregano. Toss everything together gently to coat the steak evenly with the garlic butter and herbs.
- Serve: Serve the garlic butter steak bites immediately while hot for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
- Use fresh herbs for the best flavor; dried herbs can be substituted but reduce quantities.
- Let the steak rest a few minutes before cutting to preserve juices if cutting from a whole piece.
- Adjust cooking time to preferred steak doneness (rare, medium, well-done).
- If using a cast iron skillet, it will help achieve a superior sear.
