Bread and Butter:
- 8 slices Italian bread or thick sandwich bread
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Seasoning Mix:
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Filling:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)
Instructions
- Prepare Seasoned Butter: Mix softened butter with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Spread on one side of each bread slice.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Place 4 bread slices, buttered side down. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on the unbuttered side. Add mozzarella, meat, more mozzarella, and top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
