Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional Toppings:
- powdered sugar
- fresh berries
- maple syrup
- lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Place a 9×13-inch baking dish or a 10-inch oven-safe skillet in the oven to heat.
- Mix the batter: In a blender or mixing bowl, combine eggs, flour, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend or whisk until smooth and frothy.
- Prepare the dish: Carefully remove the hot dish from the oven and add the butter, swirling to coat the bottom and sides as it melts.
- Bake the pancake: Immediately pour the batter into the buttered dish and return it to the oven. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the pancake is puffed and golden brown around the edges.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- German pancakes will deflate slightly after coming out of the oven—that’s normal!
- Use room temperature eggs and milk for the best puff.
- You can also bake this in smaller ramekins for individual servings.
