Additional:
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pistachios (optional)
- fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare pastry: Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 12 small squares or circles.
- Make filling: In a bowl, mix goat cheese, cream cheese (if using), honey, and black pepper until smooth.
- Fill pastry: Place a small spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square. Fold corners up slightly or leave open-faced for a rustic look.
- Brush with egg wash: Whisk the egg with water and brush edges of the pastry with the egg wash.
- Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Finish: Let cool slightly, then drizzle with extra honey and sprinkle with chopped nuts and herbs if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
