  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 3 cups cooked or canned green beans, drained
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 (28-ounce) bag frozen tater tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking dish: Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic: In a skillet, melt butter, add diced onion, and cook until softened. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Make the sauce: Stir in flour, then whisk in milk until smooth. Add sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. Combine ingredients: Remove from heat, add green beans and 1 cup of cheese. Pour mixture into baking dish.
  5. Add tater tots and bake: Arrange tater tots on top, bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden. Sprinkle remaining cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes.
