Description

Heath Bar Poke Cake is a rich and indulgent dessert featuring a moist Devil’s Food cake soaked with sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping, then layered with whipped topping and drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauces. Finished with crunchy crushed Heath bars, this cake is perfect for special occasions or satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake

  • 1 Box Devil’s Food cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)

Filling and Topping

  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) jar caramel topping, divided
  • 1 (8 ounce) tub whipped topping, thawed
  • 1/4 cup chocolate sauce
  • 34 Heath bars, crushed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Follow the package instructions to prepare the Devil’s Food cake batter. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake as directed on the box. Allow the cake to cool for 5 minutes once removed from the oven.
  2. Poke the Cake: Using a chopstick, thick straw, or the thin handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the surface of the warm cake, spacing them about an inch apart. This step allows the toppings to seep deeply into the cake.
  3. Add Condensed Milk and Caramel: Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake. Reserve 1/4 cup of the caramel topping in a separate bowl. Then pour the remaining caramel topping over the cake. Use the back of a spoon to spread the condensed milk and caramel, ensuring they seep into the holes poked earlier.
  4. Chill the Cake: Allow the cake to cool completely to room temperature. Then place it in the refrigerator for at least one hour to let the flavors meld together and the cake to set.
  5. Top with Whipped Topping and Sauces: After chilling, spread the whipped topping evenly across the surface of the cake. Drizzle the reserved caramel topping and chocolate sauce over the whipped topping in a decorative pattern.
  6. Add Heath Bar Crumbles: Sprinkle the crushed Heath bars evenly over the top of the cake, adding a sweet and crunchy finish.
  7. Serve: Slice the cake into 15 servings and serve chilled for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute the Devil’s Food cake mix with any chocolate cake mix if preferred.
  • Make sure the cake is slightly warm before poking holes and adding the condensed milk to allow better absorption.
  • For an extra chocolatey touch, add chocolate chips to the cake batter before baking.
  • Store leftover cake covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
