Sauce Base:

  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish:

  • Fresh chopped basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large pot. Sauté onion until softened. Add garlic, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until tender.
  2. Prepare Sauce: Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, herbs, seasonings, and optional ingredients. Simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  3. Blend: Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce until smooth.
  4. Adjust and Serve: Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve warm over pasta or as a pizza sauce. Garnish with fresh herbs.
