Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 2 cups dry roasted peanuts (unsalted or lightly salted)
- 1–2 tablespoons peanut oil (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions
- Prepare the Peanuts: Place the dry roasted peanuts in a food processor. Blend for 1–2 minutes until the peanuts are crumbly.
- Blend to Peanut Butter: Scrape down the sides of the processor bowl, then continue blending. The peanuts will transition through different textures — from crumbs to a thick paste, and finally to a smooth butter. This will take about 4–6 minutes in total.
- Adjust Consistency: If the peanut butter is too thick, add peanut oil one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season and Sweeten: Add salt and the optional honey or maple syrup, then blend briefly again to combine all flavors evenly.
- Store: Transfer the peanut butter to a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid. Store it in the refrigerator where it will keep fresh for up to 3 weeks.
Notes
- For crunchy peanut butter, reserve 1/4 cup of peanuts, finely chop them, and fold into the finished butter.
- Experiment with additional flavorings like cinnamon, vanilla extract, or cocoa powder for unique variations.
