Scale
Seafood
- 2 salmon fillets
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Cooking Fats & Oils
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for rice)
Rice
- 1 cup jasmine rice (or your preferred rice)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth (or water)
- Salt, to taste
Seasonings & Garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Garlic Butter Rice: In a medium pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant and slightly golden.
- Add the Rice: Stir in 1 cup of jasmine rice, coating the grains evenly with the butter and garlic mixture.
- Cook the Rice: Pour in 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth (or water) and add salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is fully absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork to separate the grains.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons honey, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, and 3 cloves minced garlic. Mix well to blend all the flavors.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Allow the butter to melt and start to sizzle.
- Season the Seafood: Season the salmon fillets and shrimp with salt and pepper on both sides to taste.
- Cook the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the salmon is opaque, cooked through, and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the seasoned shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are opaque all the way through.
- Add the Sauce and Combine: Reduce the heat to low and pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the cooked salmon and shrimp in the skillet. Toss gently to coat all pieces well. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the seafood.
- Serve: Plate the garlic butter rice and top with the honey garlic salmon and shrimp. Garnish with 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley for a fresh burst of flavor and color. Serve immediately for the best taste.
