Shrimp Coating
- 2 lbs peeled and deveined shrimp, cleaned and patted dry
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/4 cup corn starch
For Cooking
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 Tbsp butter
Sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
Optional Garnish
- Sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: In a large bowl, whisk together the black pepper, garlic salt, and cornstarch until combined. Add the shrimp and toss until all shrimp are well-coated to create a crispy outer texture when cooked.
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer, cooking in batches if needed to prevent overcrowding. Cook each side for 1-2 minutes until shrimp turn pink and develop a slight crispiness. Transfer cooked shrimp to a plate.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in honey and soy sauce, cooking the sauce for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss well to coat all shrimp evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to blend flavors and warm through.
- Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired and serve hot over rice or alongside your favorite side dishes.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, ensure shrimp are patted very dry before coating.
- Do not overcrowd the pan while cooking shrimp to maintain a crispy texture.
- Adjust honey quantity if a sweeter or less sweet flavor is preferred.
- Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
