Description

Indulge in a rich and creamy homemade hot chocolate that will warm you up from the inside out. This classic winter beverage is perfect for cozy nights in or as a sweet treat for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Dairy Base:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Chocolate Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Toppings:

  • whipped cream or marshmallows for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly until hot but not boiling.
  2. Add Chocolate: Add the chocolate chips and whisk until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Serve: Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer version, use all heavy cream or add a splash of flavored liqueur.
  • You can also use non-dairy milk and coconut cream for a dairy-free alternative.
