Description

A spicy and sweet recipe featuring crispy fried chicken thighs glazed with a homemade hot honey sauce. This dish combines the crunch of perfectly fried chicken with a flavorful, slightly thickened glaze made from honey, hot sauce, and lemon juice, creating a deliciously balanced meal that’s perfect for a quick dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 46 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Hot Honey Glaze

  • 1/2 cup honey (preferably raw)
  • 2 tsp hot sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp sriracha (or any hot sauce)

For Frying

  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat dry the chicken thighs with paper towels to remove excess moisture ensuring a crispy coating later.
  2. Mix coating ingredients: In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper thoroughly.
  3. Coat the chicken: Dredge each chicken thigh in the flour mixture until evenly coated on all sides.
  4. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering hot but not smoking.
  5. Fry the chicken: Carefully place chicken thighs into the hot oil and fry for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through, ensuring an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Make the hot honey glaze: While chicken fries, combine honey, 2 tsp hot sauce, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over low heat. Warm gently until mixture slightly thickens, stirring occasionally.
  7. Glaze the chicken: Remove fried chicken from oil and immediately drizzle with the warm hot honey glaze while they are still warm for maximum flavor absorption.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken is thoroughly dried before coating to achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Use a thermometer to check oil temperature and chicken’s internal temperature for safe cooking.
  • The hot honey glaze can be adjusted in spiciness by varying the amount of hot sauce used.
  • Leftover glazed chicken can be reheated in an oven to retain crispiness.
