Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Coating
- 4–6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Hot Honey Glaze
- 1/2 cup honey (preferably raw)
- 2 tsp hot sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 tbsp sriracha (or any hot sauce)
For Frying
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: Pat dry the chicken thighs with paper towels to remove excess moisture ensuring a crispy coating later.
- Mix coating ingredients: In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper thoroughly.
- Coat the chicken: Dredge each chicken thigh in the flour mixture until evenly coated on all sides.
- Heat the oil: In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering hot but not smoking.
- Fry the chicken: Carefully place chicken thighs into the hot oil and fry for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through, ensuring an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Make the hot honey glaze: While chicken fries, combine honey, 2 tsp hot sauce, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over low heat. Warm gently until mixture slightly thickens, stirring occasionally.
- Glaze the chicken: Remove fried chicken from oil and immediately drizzle with the warm hot honey glaze while they are still warm for maximum flavor absorption.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken is thoroughly dried before coating to achieve maximum crispiness.
- Use a thermometer to check oil temperature and chicken’s internal temperature for safe cooking.
- The hot honey glaze can be adjusted in spiciness by varying the amount of hot sauce used.
- Leftover glazed chicken can be reheated in an oven to retain crispiness.
