Description

This Individual Apple Crisp Skillet recipe is a delightful single-serve dessert that combines the warm, cinnamon-spiced goodness of baked apples with a crispy oat topping. Perfect for a cozy night in or a special treat for one or two.

Ingredients

Scale

    For the Apple Filling:

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
  • For the Crumble Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup almond flour or whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a small bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, maple syrup or honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger until evenly coated. Divide the apple mixture evenly between two small oven-safe skillets or ramekins.
  3. Make the Crumble Topping: In another bowl, combine the melted butter, oats, almond flour, chopped nuts if using, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir until the topping is crumbly and well mixed.
  4. Assemble and Bake: Spoon the crumble topping evenly over the apples in each skillet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  5. Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Top with a scoop of vanilla yogurt or light ice cream for an extra treat.
  • Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples work best for a balance of sweet and tart flavor.
