Description

These Italian Sliders are a delicious, savory treat perfect for gatherings or a hearty snack. Featuring flavorful Italian sausage, melted provolone cheese, tangy pesto, and sweet roasted red peppers, all baked inside soft slider buns, they deliver a perfect balance of flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 slider buns
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup pesto sauce
  • 1 cup roasted red peppers, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the sliders later on.
  2. Cook Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until it is browned and crumbled, ensuring it is fully cooked and flavorful.
  3. Prepare Buns
Slice the slider buns horizontally in half. Spread a generous layer of pesto sauce on the bottom halves to add a fresh herbaceous flavor.
  4. Assemble Sliders
Layer the cooked sausage evenly over the pesto-spread bun bottoms. Then add slices of provolone cheese followed by the roasted red peppers, building layers of taste and texture.
  5. Top and Bake
Place the top halves of the buns over the assembled fillings. Brush the tops with olive oil for a golden finish. Cover the sliders with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to melt the cheese and heat through.
  6. Brown Toppings
Remove the foil and bake an additional 5–10 minutes until the buns are golden brown on top. Serve the sliders hot for best flavor.

Notes

  • You can choose between sweet or spicy Italian sausage based on your flavor preference.
  • Using fresh pesto enhances the flavor but store-bought works well too.
  • Roasted red peppers can be used from a jar to save time.
  • Brush the buns with olive oil to achieve a nice, crisp texture during baking.
  • Make sure to cover with foil initially to melt the cheese without burning the buns.
