Description

These Italian Sub Squares are a delicious twist on the classic sub sandwich. Layers of deli meats and cheeses are baked between crescent roll dough with a flavorful egg mixture, creating a savory and satisfying appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Roll Layers:

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling:

  • 1/4 pound sliced deli ham
  • 1/4 pound sliced Genoa salami
  • 1/4 pound sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoncini or banana peppers (optional)

Egg Mixture:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Layer crescent dough: Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the dish, sealing the seams.
  3. Add fillings: Layer with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, mozzarella, and peppers if using.
  4. Prepare egg mixture: In a small bowl, beat the eggs with Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour evenly over the layers.
  5. Top with dough: Top with the second can of crescent dough, pinching seams and pressing edges to seal.
  6. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and set. Let cool, slice into squares, and serve.
