- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter or shortening, cubed
- 1/2 cup cold water (add more if needed)
For the Beef Filling:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 small onion, finely diced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to heat)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
For the Egg Wash:
- 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water, beaten
Instructions
- Prepare the Pastry: Mix flour, turmeric, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add water, form dough, and chill.
- Make the Filling: Sauté onions, garlic, add beef, spices, broth, and breadcrumbs. Cool.
- Assemble the Patties: Roll out dough, cut circles, add filling, fold, and seal edges.
- Bake: Brush with egg wash, bake until golden brown.
- Serve: Enjoy hot!

- Patties can be frozen before baking—just thaw slightly and bake as directed.
- Add Scotch bonnet pepper for authentic heat if desired.
