Description

This delightful Lemon Lavender Margarita recipe combines the bright, tangy flavor of fresh lemon juice with the floral notes of lavender simple syrup and the smooth warmth of reposado tequila. Perfectly balanced with a hint of orange from Cointreau, these margaritas are elegant, refreshing, and ideal for a sophisticated cocktail hour or a relaxing evening.

Ingredients

Scale

Lavender Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tablespoon lavender baking buds or lavender extract

Margarita Mix

  • 4 ounces Reposado tequila
  • 2 ounces Cointreau (or triple sec)
  • 1 ½ ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon lavender simple syrup
  • Ice cubes

Garnishes

  • Lemon slices
  • White sugar
  • Lavender baking buds
  • Coarse salt
  • Lime slices

Instructions

  1. Make the Lavender Simple Syrup: In a small pot, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat and stir frequently until the mixture reaches a boil.
  2. Add Lavender: Reduce the heat to a simmer and add lavender baking buds or lavender extract. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let steep for an additional 5 minutes to infuse the syrup.
  3. Strain and Chill: Strain the syrup through a fine mesh to remove the lavender buds (if used). Transfer the syrup to a container and chill until completely cooled.
  4. Prepare Glass Rims: On a plate, mix 2 tablespoons of white sugar with 2 teaspoons of minced lavender baking buds. Moisten the edges of the glasses with lemon wedges and dip them into the lavender sugar mixture to coat. Set the glasses aside.
  5. Mix the Margarita: In a cocktail shaker, combine the reposado tequila, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of chilled lavender simple syrup. Shake vigorously until well combined.
  6. Taste and Adjust Sweetness: Taste the mixture and add more lavender simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter margarita.
  7. Serve: Fill the prepared glasses with ice cubes. Pour the margarita mixture over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and serve immediately. Cheers!

Notes

  • You can substitute Cointreau with triple sec if preferred.
  • Adjust the lavender simple syrup quantity to taste depending on desired floral intensity.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • To make a salt rim, use coarse salt on a separate glass rim or mix salt with sugar for a unique flavor.
  • The lavender buds used for garnish can be removed before serving if preferred.
