Sticky Rice:
- 1 cup glutinous (sticky) rice
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk (divided)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Additional Ingredients:
- 2 ripe mangoes (peeled and sliced)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse and Soak Rice: Rinse sticky rice until water runs clear. Soak in water for 4 hours or overnight, then drain.
- Steam Rice: Steam rice in cheesecloth-lined steamer for 20–25 minutes until tender.
- Prepare Coconut Sauce: Heat 1 cup coconut milk with sugar and salt. Pour over cooked rice and let sit.
- Make Topping: Heat remaining coconut milk in a saucepan, thicken if desired.
- Serve: Plate sticky rice, top with mango slices, drizzle with coconut sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Notes
- Best with Thai glutinous rice and ripe Ataulfo or Nam Dok Mai mangoes.
- Add a pinch of salt to topping sauce for balance.
