Sticky Rice:

  • 1 cup glutinous (sticky) rice
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk (divided)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe mangoes (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and Soak Rice: Rinse sticky rice until water runs clear. Soak in water for 4 hours or overnight, then drain.
  2. Steam Rice: Steam rice in cheesecloth-lined steamer for 20–25 minutes until tender.
  3. Prepare Coconut Sauce: Heat 1 cup coconut milk with sugar and salt. Pour over cooked rice and let sit.
  4. Make Topping: Heat remaining coconut milk in a saucepan, thicken if desired.
  5. Serve: Plate sticky rice, top with mango slices, drizzle with coconut sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Best with Thai glutinous rice and ripe Ataulfo or Nam Dok Mai mangoes.
  • Add a pinch of salt to topping sauce for balance.
