Noodles:

  • 8 ounces lo mein or spaghetti noodles

Ground Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef

Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish:

  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Cook noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook Beef: In a skillet, cook ground beef in sesame oil until browned. Add garlic and ginger, cook until fragrant.
  3. Make Sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, water, and red pepper flakes. Pour over beef and simmer.
