Ingredients
Scale
Slider Assembly
- 12 slider buns or Hawaiian rolls
- 6 slices deli ham
- 6 slices deli turkey
- 6 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
Egg Custard
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Additional
- Powdered sugar, for topping
- Raspberry jam, for serving
- Cooking spray or additional butter for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
- Slice buns: Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, but keep the tops and bottoms together as single sheets, so you have one sheet of bottoms and one sheet of tops.
- Assemble sliders base: Place the bottom half sheet of the slider buns inside the prepared baking dish. In a small bowl, mix the Dijon mustard and mayonnaise, then spread this mixture evenly over the bottom buns for added flavor and moisture.
- Add fillings: Layer the deli ham evenly across the bottom buns, then add the turkey slices followed by the Swiss cheese, covering the entire bottom layer.
- Top sliders: Carefully place the top half sheet of buns over the layered fillings creating a sandwich layer for all sliders simultaneously.
- Make egg custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, garlic powder, and melted butter until fully combined and smooth.
- Pour custard: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the assembled sliders in the baking dish, making sure the custard soaks all the way through. Let the sliders sit for 5–10 minutes to absorb the liquid completely.
- Bake covered: Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to cook through without drying out.
- Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes uncovered until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Finish and serve: Allow the sliders to cool slightly, then dust the tops with powdered sugar. Serve warm with raspberry jam on the side for dipping, providing a delightful sweet and savory contrast.
Notes
- For a crispier bottom crust, pre-toast the bottom half of the rolls in the baking dish for a few minutes before assembling the sliders.
- You can substitute Swiss cheese with provolone or Gruyère for a different but equally delicious flavor.
- These sliders can be assembled ahead of time, covered tightly, and baked just before serving for convenience.
