Description

Indulge in the fiery goodness of Nashville Hot Chicken with this crispy and spicy recipe. Tender chicken coated in a flavorful buttermilk marinade, fried to golden perfection, and slathered with a lip-smacking hot sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and/or drumsticks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • vegetable oil for frying

For the Nashville Hot Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup frying oil (from the chicken)
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: Whisk buttermilk and hot sauce in a bowl. Marinate chicken in the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
  2. Coat the Chicken: Mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a dish. Dredge marinated chicken in flour mixture and let it rest.
  3. Fry the Chicken: Heat oil, fry chicken until golden and cooked through.
  4. Prepare the Hot Sauce: Mix hot oil with spices. Brush over fried chicken.
  5. Serve: Enjoy hot chicken with bread and pickles.
