Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1¼ cups water or chicken broth
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In the baking dish, combine the uncooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, water (or broth), garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until fully blended.
- Place the chicken breasts on top of the rice mixture. Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the chicken and rice.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil — do not peek during baking.
- Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the chicken is cooked through.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- Do not remove the foil while baking — it traps the moisture to cook the rice properly.
- You can substitute chicken thighs or add vegetables like mushrooms or peas before baking.
- For extra flavor, use chicken broth instead of water.
