Description

This One-Pot Smoky Honey BBQ Steak Pasta is a flavorful and easy-to-make dish combining tender sliced steak with smoky paprika and garlic-infused BBQ sauce, all simmered with penne pasta in a creamy, rich sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s a perfect weeknight dinner that requires minimal cleanup while delivering big taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Seasoning

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Pasta and Sauce

  • 12 oz penne pasta (or pasta of your choice)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (choose your favorite brand)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season and Cook the Steak. In a medium bowl, mix the thinly sliced steak with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, add the steak and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Pasta Base. In the same skillet, add diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant. Stir in BBQ sauce and honey, cooking for another 1-2 minutes to combine and heat through.
  3. Simmer Pasta in Sauce. Pour in beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Add uncooked pasta, stirring to coat the pasta thoroughly in the sauce. Cover the skillet and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, ensuring it doesn’t stick.
  4. Finish the Dish. Stir in heavy cream and return the cooked steak to the skillet. Let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce is creamy. If desired, mix in shredded cheddar cheese and cook until melted and smooth.
  5. Serve. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve the smoky honey BBQ steak pasta warm for best flavor and enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use flank or sirloin steak thinly sliced for quick cooking and tenderness.
  • Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce and honey based on your preferred sweetness and smokiness levels.
  • Any short pasta shape can be substituted for penne, such as rigatoni or fusilli.
  • For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or omit the cheese.
  • Stir pasta occasionally while cooking to avoid sticking and ensure even cooking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on stovetop or microwave.
