Description

Cake:

  • 1 box butter pecan cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 container (16 oz) coconut pecan frosting
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Praline Topping:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease/flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix cake batter: In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Beat until smooth. Fold in half of the frosting and 3/4 cup pecans.
  3. Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Make praline topping: Melt butter in a saucepan, add sugar and cream. Simmer until thickened. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Top the cake: Pour warm praline topping over the cooled cake. Sprinkle remaining pecans on top.
  6. Serve: Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
