Ingredients
Scale
Rice:
- 1 cup jasmine rice
Water:
- 1 1/2 cups water
Salt (optional):
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Rinse the rice: Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- Cook the rice: In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt if using. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 12-15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Steam the rice: Remove the pan from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5-10 minutes to allow the rice to steam and finish cooking.
- Fluff and serve: Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
- For extra fragrance, add a pandan leaf or a small piece of ginger to the water while cooking.
- Jasmine rice can also be prepared in a rice cooker using the same water ratio.
