Filling:
- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (about 6–7 medium peaches)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Topping:
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the peaches: In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the peach mixture into a 9×9-inch or similar baking dish.
- Make the topping: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and mix until the topping is crumbly and evenly moistened. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the peaches.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Cool and serve: Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- If using canned or frozen peaches, drain well and reduce sugar slightly.
- Add chopped pecans to the topping for extra crunch.
