Description

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread recipe. A delicious combination of tender ribeye steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and gooey cheeses on a crisp French bread base.

Ingredients

Scale

French Bread:

  • 1 large French bread loaf (cut in half lengthwise)

Cheesesteak Filling:

  • 1 lb ribeye steak or sirloin (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 small yellow onion (sliced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cheese Topping:

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook the steak: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sliced steak in olive oil until browned, about 4–5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté peppers and onions: In the same skillet, sauté the bell pepper and onion until soft and lightly caramelized, about 6–8 minutes.
  4. Assemble: Place the cut bread halves on a baking sheet, brush with melted butter. Layer steak, sautéed peppers, and onions on bread. Sprinkle cheeses on top.
  5. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness.
  6. Garnish and serve: Garnish with parsley if desired. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • For easy slicing, freeze the steak for 30 minutes before cutting.
  • Feel free to use white American cheese or Cheez Whiz for a more traditional Philly style.
