  • 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • Optional: 1 garlic clove smashed
  • 56 whole peppercorns
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Onions: Peel and thinly slice the red onion and place in a clean pint-sized jar.
  2. Create the Brine: In a saucepan, combine apple cider vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Add garlic, peppercorns, and red pepper flakes if desired. Simmer until sugar and salt dissolve.
