Scale
Fresh Pineapple Hot Sauce:
- 2 cups fresh pineapple chunks
- 6–8 habanero peppers, stemmed and seeded for less heat
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (optional for color)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine pineapple, habaneros, onion, garlic, apple cider vinegar, lime juice, honey, salt, cumin, and turmeric. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 10–12 minutes until the peppers and onion are softened.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until completely smooth.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more honey for sweetness or vinegar for tang.
- Pour into sterilized glass bottles or jars. Refrigerate for up to 2 months.
Notes
- This sauce is very spicy—wear gloves when handling habaneros.
- For a milder version, reduce the number of habaneros or substitute with jalapeños.
- It pairs wonderfully with grilled chicken, tacos, shrimp, or roasted vegetables.
