Bread:

  • 4 slices of Italian or sourdough bread

Filling:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 slices pepperoni (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bread: Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Assemble: Place two slices butter-side down on a skillet. Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on the unbuttered side of each. Layer with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, oregano, and garlic powder. Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up.
  3. Cook: Cook over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing down gently with a spatula until golden brown and cheese is melted.
