Description

These Red Velvet Kiss Cookies are a delightful twist on traditional chocolate kiss cookies. With a rich red velvet flavor and a sweet surprise in the center, they are perfect for holiday gatherings or any time you crave a sweet treat.

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring

Additional:

  • 24 Hershey’s Kisses (unwrapped)
  • Extra granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring; beat until well combined.
  4. Combine the ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape and bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, then coat in extra granulated sugar. Place on baking sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Add the Kisses: Remove from the oven and press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a deeper red color, add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring if desired.
  • Freeze the unwrapped Kisses for 10 minutes beforehand to help them keep their shape when pressed into the warm cookies.
