Description

These Shrimp Tacos are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a fun taco night with friends. Juicy shrimp seasoned with a blend of spices, served in warm tortillas with crunchy cabbage, tangy crema, and creamy avocado – these tacos are sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • juice of 1 lime

For Serving:

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • chopped fresh cilantro
  • diced avocado
  • lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and lime juice until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque.
  3. Make the Crema: In a small bowl, mix sour cream with lime juice and hot sauce to create a simple crema.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Add a handful of cabbage to each tortilla, top with a few shrimp, drizzle with the crema, and garnish with cilantro and avocado.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • You can substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream for a lighter option.
  • Add mango salsa or pickled red onions for extra flavor.
  • These tacos pair well with rice, beans, or a fresh cucumber salad.
