Description
Tender and flavorful barbecue ribs cooked to perfection in a slow cooker with a hint of cola for a unique twist. These ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious and will be a hit at any gathering or family dinner.
Ingredients
Ribs:
- 3 to 4 pounds pork baby back ribs or spare ribs
Spice Rub:
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Additional:
- 1 can (12 ounces) Coca-Cola
- 2 cups barbecue sauce (your favorite variety)
Instructions
- Prepare Ribs: Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for better texture.
- Cook Ribs: Cut the ribs into sections if needed to fit into the slow cooker. Place the ribs in the slow cooker and pour the Coca-Cola over them.
- Finish and Serve: Carefully remove the ribs from the slow cooker and place them on a baking sheet. Brush generously with barbecue sauce.
In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the ribs on both sides.
Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, until the ribs are tender and nearly falling off the bone.
Broil in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly. Serve hot with extra sauce on the side.
Notes
- You can use diet or zero-sugar cola if preferred.
- For spicier ribs, add a pinch of cayenne to the rub or use a spicy barbecue sauce.
