Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, grilled or fried
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup sliced pickles
  • 1/2 cup honey mustard sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Toast Rolls: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Split the hoagie rolls lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Lightly toast in the oven for 3–4 minutes until warmed and slightly crisp.
  2. Add Chicken and Cheese: Place a cooked chicken breast on each toasted roll and top each with a slice of cheddar cheese. Return the sandwiches to the oven for 2–3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  3. Assemble Sandwich: Remove from oven and top each sandwich with 2 slices of crispy cooked bacon, shredded lettuce, and pickle slices.
  4. Finish with Sauce and Serve: Drizzle the honey mustard sauce generously over the toppings. Close the sandwiches and serve them warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Traditionally served in the South Carolina Upstate region, these sandwiches are a local twist on hot dogs.
  • For extra flavor, brush the hoagie rolls with butter before toasting.
  • You can use grilled chicken tenders instead of whole chicken breasts for easier eating.
