Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs and Flavorings: Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk in three parts, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.
