Ingredients
Rotini Pasta:
12 oz rotini pasta
Spicy Italian Sausage:
1 pound (casings removed)
Olive Oil:
1 tablespoon
Yellow Onion:
1 small (diced)
Garlic:
3 cloves (minced)
Diced Tomatoes:
1 can (14.5 oz)
Tomato Sauce:
1 can (8 oz)
Red Pepper Flakes:
1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Italian Seasoning:
1 teaspoon
Salt:
½ teaspoon
Black Pepper:
¼ teaspoon
Heavy Cream:
½ cup
Parmesan Cheese:
1 cup (shredded)
Fresh Basil or Parsley:
2 tablespoons (chopped, optional)
Instructions
- Cook Rotini: Cook rotini in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Saute Sausage: Heat olive oil in a skillet, add sausage, cook until browned. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
- Make Sauce: Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, seasonings. Simmer for 8–10 minutes. Add cream, simmer for 2 minutes.
- Combine: Add cooked pasta to the skillet, toss to coat. Stir in Parmesan cheese.
- Serve: Garnish with basil or parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use mild Italian sausage for less heat.
- You can add spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.
- Substitute penne or rigatoni if rotini is not available.
