Description

Spicy Sesame Ground Beef Bowls are a flavorful and satisfying Asian-inspired dish featuring seasoned ground beef served over rice with crunchy vegetables, topped with sesame seeds for added texture and taste.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

For Serving:

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine or white rice
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber, sliced or julienned
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 6–8 minutes.
  2. Drain excess grease if needed, then add garlic and ginger. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer for 3–4 minutes to meld flavors and slightly thicken the sauce.
  4. Divide cooked rice between 4 bowls. Top each with the spicy sesame beef, shredded carrots, cucumber, and green onions.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can swap beef for ground turkey or plant-based crumbles.
  • Add a fried or soft-boiled egg on top for extra richness.
  • Great for meal prep—store components separately and assemble before serving.
