Description

This elegant Steak and Lobster Dinner combines tender filet mignon steaks with succulent broiled lobster tails, seasoned with fresh herbs and garlic butter for a classic surf and turf experience perfect for special occasions or a romantic meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak

  • 2 filet mignon steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Lobster

  • 2 lobster tails (5–6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For serving

  • Unsalted butter, for topping
  • Lemon wedges
  • Optional melted garlic butter for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prepare Steaks: Bring the steaks to room temperature and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Sear Steaks: Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sear the steaks for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your preferred doneness.
  3. Baste Steaks: In the last minute of cooking, add 1 tablespoon butter, minced garlic, rosemary, and thyme to the skillet. Continuously baste the steaks with the melted herb butter for enhanced flavor.
  4. Rest Steaks: Remove the steaks from the skillet, tent loosely with foil, and let them rest while preparing the lobster tails.
  5. Prepare Lobster Tails: Use kitchen shears to cut down the top shell of each lobster tail, gently lift the meat upward and rest it on top of the shell. Brush the lobster meat with the remaining olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  6. Broil Lobster: Place the lobster tails on a baking sheet, meat side up, and broil them for 8–10 minutes until the meat is opaque and lightly browned.
  7. Serve: Plate the steak and lobster together, top each with a pat of butter and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Serve with optional melted garlic butter for dipping.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness: 130°F for medium-rare steak and 140°F for lobster meat.
  • Resting the steak before serving helps retain juicy flavor.
  • If desired, add a side of melted garlic butter to enhance the lobster experience.
