Marinade:
- 2 pounds flank steak or skirt steak
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Additional Ingredients:
- 12 small corn tortillas
- 1/2 cup diced white onion
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges for serving
- Salsa or hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, orange juice, lime juice, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Marinate the Steak: Place steak in the marinade, refrigerate for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
- Cook the Steak: Cook steak in a hot skillet for 4 to 5 minutes per side. Let rest, then slice thinly and chop into small pieces.
- Warm the Tortillas: Heat tortillas in a skillet until soft.
- Assemble Tacos: Fill tortillas with steak, onion, cilantro, and lime. Serve with salsa or hot sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, lightly char the tortillas over an open flame.
- Carne asada can also be cooked on an outdoor grill for added smokiness.
