Description

This Strawberry and Herb Shrub is a delightful and refreshing beverage made with fresh strawberries, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and herbs. Perfect for mixing into sparkling water or crafting unique cocktails and mocktails.

Strawberry and Sugar Mixture:

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (or mint or thyme), gently torn

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Mixture: Combine sliced strawberries and sugar in a bowl. Refrigerate for 24 hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Strain the Mixture: After 24 hours, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing to extract liquid.
  3. Add Vinegar and Herbs: Combine the strained syrup with vinegar and fresh herbs.
  4. Let it Steep: Pour into a jar, seal, and refrigerate for at least 3 days to develop flavors.
  5. Serve: Mix 1-2 tablespoons of shrub with sparkling water or use in cocktails and mocktails.
