  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the whipped cream:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries: Combine sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup sugar. Let sit to macerate.
  2. Make the shortcakes: Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter, add milk and vanilla. Shape, cut, and bake.
  3. Whip the cream: Beat cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  4. Assemble: Split shortcakes, top with strawberries, whipped cream, and more strawberries. Serve.
